The Florida Panthers announced today the team has assigned defenseman Alex Petrovic to the Checkers.
Petrovic, 34, was recalled by the Panthers on October 3, but has not played in a game with Florida this season. The Edmonton, AB, native agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Panthers on July 1, 2026.
Petrovic has played 323 NHL games, recording 60 points (seven goals, 53 assists) and 411 penalty minutes with the Panthers, Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound blueliner was originally drafted by Florida in the second round (36th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
