The Checkers couldn’t replicate their success from the night before in Colorado on Wednesday, dropping a 3-0 final to split the series with the Eagles.
Neither side would surrender an inch for nearly the first two periods of play, with a scoreless deadlock occupying the scoreboard until the final five minutes of the middle frame when Eagles captain Jayson Megna redirected a puck into the back of the net.
That would spark the home team, who struck twice early in the third to blow the game open. The Checkers were unable to muster a rally from that point, as Colorado netminder Trent Miner was perfect on all 26 shots they put his way. Time would eventually run out on regulation as Charlotte finished their first ever visit to Colorado with a midweek split.
